The wildfire of the Horse has been fueled by the Wood element for the last couple of months. This month the element shifts to Yang Fire. Yup, that’s right! Fire feeding Fire.
As the heat rises, the most important question you can ask yourself is whether you are taking care of yourself. Are you drinking plenty of water? Connecting to your emotions? Spending time near lakes, rivers, or the ocean? Are you also bringing in the Earth element? Grounding practices, meditation, and connecting to Mother Earth are all powerful ways to cool and calm this extreme Fire energy.
The Month of the Yang Fire Monkey
The animal stepping to the head of the class this month is the Monkey, and the Monkey is quite the character. In the light side the Monkey is clever, curious, charming, and absolutely loves to entertain. In its shadow side the Monkey becomes mischievous, manipulative, and simply does not know when to stop.
Combined with Yang Fire, this is volatile energy. The Monkey’s natural element is Metal, and if you know anything about the five elements you already know where this is going. Combine Fire and Metal and it is like grabbing a scalding curling iron from the wrong end. Ouch!
Unexpected surprises may be on the menu this month, so keeping a level head is essential. Keep coming back to Water and Earth to mitigate the intensity. If you have a Tiger or a Pig in your chart, this month is especially important for you. Try not to take things personally, lay low when you can, and practice loosening your grip a little.
Eclipse Season is here and the Nodes of Fate are Changing Signs
This is one of the most significant shifts of the year. On August 18th the Nodes of Fate change signs, and the collective energy pivots in a major way.
The North Node has been moving through Pisces while the South Node has been moving through Virgo, teaching us all to release the need to control every detail and criticism, and instead surrender to divine trust. That chapter is closing.
The North Node will move into Aquarius, the sign of revolution, humanitarianism, and collective freedom. The South Node moves into Leo, the sign of the spotlight and individual self expression. The lesson shifting for the collective is profound. We are being called to move from “look at me” to “how do we all shine together?” This nodal axis may begin pulling the spotlight away from those who have monopolized it and redirecting it toward those who have been waiting in the wings.

The month closes with a Lunar Eclipse at 4° Pisces. Lunar eclipses carry amplified Full Moon energy, and in Pisces that energy moves into the realm of the spiritual, the unseen, and the deeply intuitive. This is a powerful release point. Saturn Retrograde in Aries
Saturn, the planet of restriction, responsibility, and long term structure, went retrograde on July 26th in the fiery sign of Aries. This retrograde is inviting us to retrace the steps we have taken since April of this year. Where have you moved too fast? Where do some of your recent choices need a second look?
This does not have to mean reversing course entirely.
